The cruel hands of death have struck once more. This time it is on one of
Ghana’s music legends AB Crenstil, whose demise happened occurred
yesterday, July 13, 2022.
It is allegedly reported that he has been quite unwell for some time.
According to sources, he had been on admission for about a month at the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, but it is unclear what caused his death.
On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, Fredyma, one of Ghana’s ace music producers, posted on Facebook to confirm the renowned singer’s passing.
“FAREWELL AB CRENSTIL. The original composer and singer of the famous and controversial song “Moses and Atia” has died! He had a stint with many bands before joining the Sweet Talks Band with Smart Nkansah and then his own band, Ahenfo. His hit songs Juliana and Obi Ba Wiase cannot be forgotten” the post reads.
Musician Alfred Benjamin, popularly known as A. B. Crentsil was from Ghana and one of the country’s “big three” vocalists.
Numerous Ghanaian music accolades went to Crentsil, including the Fontomfrom Evergreen Award, which is given to artists with 15 to 20 years of nonstop performance. Adwoa, Juliana, Moses, Papa Samo, I will pay you tomorrow, Naana, Angelina, Memba Bio, and many other well-known songs.
For his enormous and immersive contributions to the Ghanaian music industry, he will always be remembered in the annals of music, and his achievements in the music industry will always be admired.
