A middle-aged man, who jumped the security fences of the Accra Zoo on Sunday (28 August 2022) and entered the lion’s enclosure has been mauled by one of the large wild animal news which has been confirmed by the Forestry Commission.
“The intruder was attacked and injured by one of the lions, within the inner fencing of the enclosure,” the commission’s statement said on Sunday. “The intruder has been confirmed dead from injuries sustained and the body has been conveyed to the morgue.”
The statement also denied rumours that one of the lions had escaped from the zoo.
“We wish to confirm that the lion, the lioness and the two cubs remain secured in their enclosure at the Accra Zoo,” the statement added.
After the statement was released, the Public Relations Officer of the Forestry Commission ( Mad. Joyce Ofori Kwafo) on Citi FM ( eye witness news) confirmed the death of the unidentified victim.
“ The body of the victim is currently in the morgue pending autopsy. The police are currently investigating the incident”.
