The Public Utilities and regulatory commission ( PURC), on Monday, 15th August 2022, announced an increment in Electricity by 27.15% and an increment in water by 21%.
The new tariffs are to take effect from Thursday 1st September 2022 onwards.
Meanwhile, PUCR has said it would protect consumers of electricity and water against the infliction of high tariffs by not transferring losses incurred by the utilities to consumers to worsen their plight.
And the PURC, at a press conference, said it has decided to increase the end-user rate for water and electricity by less than 30% each due to the current hardships.
